「323 • 反23」人鍊行動

2024年1月30日，香港政苦正式展開基本法23條立法嘅公眾諮詢，但整個諮詢期只有一個月，政府就指出98.6%支持，反對嘅只有0.72%。當中判國、叛亂等罪刑罰最重，可判終身監禁，煽動意圖罪由而家首次定罪判囚2年增加到7年。草案亦建議延長危害國安被捕人目前48小時嘅羈留期至最多16天。被捕人喺48小時羈留期間可以被禁止諮詢任何律師。
政府喺3月開始火速推進立法程序，喺短短兩日半嘅20個鐘內已審議近六成罪行條文。
香港喺實行國安法後，人權自由已大大被剝削。預計喺經過更嚴苛嘅23條立法後，香港民主崩壞情況更加嚴重。只要政苦話你有「意圖」叛國，你就面臨終身監禁嘅可能。
我哋溫哥華手足計劃於3月23日舉辦人鍊行動，反對23條立法，向本地人講述香港倒退情況！
當喺香港嘅同伴已被禁聲，喺海外嘅我哋更加要盡力發聲。
縱或徒勞無功，絕不無動於衷。

The government swiftly proceeded with the legislative process in March, with nearly sixty percent of the proposed offenses rubber stamped within just two and a half days.

Since the implementation of the National Security Law in Hong Kong, human rights and freedoms have been increasingly infringed upon. It is expected that with the enactment of the more stringent Article 23, deterioration of democratic values in Hong Kong will worsen. Simply having "intent" to commit treason, as arbitrarily determined by the government, could result in the possibility of life imprisonment.

We, Vancouver Activists of Hong Kong, will hold a “human chain” demonstration on March 23, 2024 to oppose the Article 23 legislation and to inform local residents about the regression in Hong Kong. While our counterparts in Hong Kong have been silenced, we overseas must make every effort to speak out.

Even if our efforts may seem futile, we will not remain indifferent.

"323 Anti-23" Rally

On January 30, 2024, the Hong Kong government began the bogus public consultation on the enactment of Article 23 of the Basic Law which mandates setting up legislation for sedition, subversion and treason. Its enactment was met with widespread opposition in 2003 which cumulated to its halt after a half-a-million strong protest. This time, with National Security Law (NSL) in place which renders any dissent to potentially be illegal, the government claimed a support rate of 98.6%, with only 0.72% opposing.

Among the proposed penalties, the most severe are for offenses like sedition and subversion, which could lead to life imprisonment. The proposed bill also suggests extending the current 48-hour detention period for those arrested for endangering national security to up to 16 days, during which the detainee can be denied access to legal counsel.
