【許智峯雪梨遇襲遭恐嚇 澳港聯強烈讉責施襲者】

8月7日下午，香港前立法會議員許智峯於雪梨一間餐廳，遭一名操廣東話的華裔男子襲擊，其間施襲男子更出言恐嚇，威脅許智峯議員的人身安全。
澳港聯強烈讉責施襲者破壞社會安寧及社區和諧，亦敬告澳洲香港人社區小心提防此等有暴力傾向人士，若遇有任何不法行為，可即時向警方舉報。
目擊者講述經過：
8月7日下午三時左右，許智峯與兩名友人在一間餐廳內飲下午茶，當時餐廳內坐滿食客。在三時半左右，坐在許智峯側面背後的圓桌的男子突然企起身，將手上一杯水撥到許智峯身上，並大聲指罵許是「人渣」。餐廳內的食客及待應等都被此男子突然其來舉動嚇了一跳，許智峯友人立即上前與該男子理論，餐廳內其他人亦出言喝止該名男子的欲進一步行動，該名男子繼續凶神惡剎出言恐嚇許智峰：「如果唔係咁多人喺度，我一早郁手打咗你喇！」目擊者指該名華裔男子操流利廣東話，年約五十餘歲，同行男女疑為其太太及兒子。
許智峯坐的一枱，枱面被男子所潑的水沾濕，而許的手機亦濕了一大片。許智峯勸止友人，避免有進一步衝突；但施襲男子未有罷休，繼續出言辱罵；許智峯與友人不作任何回應，該名男子倖倖然離去，留下疑為其太太及兒子在餐廳，他們要求餐廳將食物打包後離開。
豈料十數分鐘，該名施襲男子竟然折返，並出手搭許智峯膊頭，口出狂言：「下次再畀我見到你，就打鑊你！」許的友人立即撥開該名男子的手，並指斥他的行為已涉嫌犯上襲擊恐嚇等刑事罪行。施襲男子聽罷，邊指罵許智峯「人渣」邊離開，其間更高聲叫囂說：「你哋唔係話要報警咩！」
據知，現場除有華裔食客，亦有不諳廣東話的澳洲本地食客在場，目睹襲擊事件曾經上前了解事件緣由，對於許智峯因政見遇襲，亦替其不值，直斥施襲男子行為不當，若他們當時能了解事件緣由，亦會挺身跟施襲男子理論。在場亦有不少食客不值男子所為，特意上前安慰許智峯，及為他的未來工作打氣。
由於事涉恐嚇及襲擊，為日後安全考慮，有在場人士已拍下施襲男子的容貌，餐廳現場的食客目擊整件事件過程。許智峯及友人幾經考慮後，暫未打算報案作跟進行動；但若日後有任何需要，相信亦有足夠證據交警方作進一步調查。
On the afternoon of August 7, Ted Hui, a former member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong, was attacked by a Cantonese-speaking Chinese man in a restaurant. During the incident, the attacker also threatened the personal safety of Mr Hui. The Australia Hong Kong Link strongly accuses the perpetrators of undermining social tranquillity and community harmony. We would also like to take this opportunity to remind HongKonger communities in Australia to beware of such violent tendencies. At about 3:00 p.m. on August 7, Ted and his two friends were having afternoon tea in a restaurant, which was full of diners. At about 3:30 p.m., the man sitting at the round table behind Ted's table suddenly got up, poured a glass of water in his hand on Ted, and shouted at him calling him a "scum". The diners and waiters in the restaurant were shocked by the man's sudden behaviour. Ted's friend immediately came forward and argued with the man. Others in the restaurant also spoke out trying to stop the man's who desire to take further action. The man continued to criticise Ted and threatened him that “If it's not so many people, I’ve already beaten you up". Witnesses pointed out that the Chinese man was fluent in Cantonese, he was about 50 years of age, and he was dining together with his wife and son at the time of the attack.
The table where Ted and his friends sat was totally wet with water splashed by the man, and Ted’s mobile phone was also wet. During the confrontation, Ted persuaded his friends to avoid further conflicts; however, his kind action did not stop the man from continued abusing him verbally. Ted and his friends did not respond to him, and the man left the restaurant leaving his wife and son behind. Later, they asked the restaurant to pack their food and left.
Unexpectedly, about ten minutes later, the attacker returned and assaulted Ted’s again. This time, he even placed his hand on Ted’s shoulder and said, "Next time I see you, I will beat you!" Ted’s friend immediately released Ted’s from the man and told him that what he did can be treated as committing criminal offences such as assault and intimidation. The man left the restaurant and scolded Ted’s once again as he left. He even shouted loudly and said, “Didn’t you say you want to call the police?”
It is known that in addition to the Chinese diners, there were also local Australian diners who did not speak Cantonese at the scene. When they witnessed the attack, they came forward to understand the cause of the incident. When they understand that Ted’s was being attacked due to political opinions, they expressed their sympathy as well as condemned the improper behaviour of the attacker. They even said that should they understand the cause of the incident at that time, they would join and stand together with Ted against the man. There were other diners that expressed their sympathy to Ted for the attack, some even deliberately came forward to comfort Ted and expressed their support on Ted’s continuous contribution to the HKers.
As this incident involved intimidation and attack, for safety reasons, the attacker was being photographed, while the diners at the restaurant were also witnesses of the whole incident. After heavy consideration, Ted and his friends have decided not to report the case. However, if there is any need in the future, It is believed that there was enough evidence to submit it to the police for further investigation.
