《香港本色》由研究香港本土主義學者，馬寳康博士進行執導，電影記錄香港本土主義及香港獨立運動。電影製作花了三年時間，期間追隨香港本土派兩名領袖，他們如何在香港政治光譜打開新的一面，到因政權打壓而入獄、流亡。除了記錄兩人的反思與掙扎，更見證時代的變遷與反抗，為港人的時代革命留下重要瑰寶。
黑色洋紫荊是悼念已經逝去的香港，但在煙火與淚水交雜的街道，我們還看得見對抗極權與不義的勇氣和膽色。

“Black Bauhinia” is directed by Dr. Malte Kaeding, whose research interests relate to Hong Kong localism. Hong Kong independence movement and the development of Hong Kong localism are depicted in the movie. A total of three years were spent in the production of the documentary, which included the filming of two Hong Kong localist during this time frame. During the documentary, we see both political leaders win the political seat in the Hong Kong election, but one was imprisoned and the other exiled after the political pressure by the Chinese government. The documentary also records the political leaders' reflections and struggles, it is the diary of the people's resistance, the testimony to the revolutionary period of Hong Kong.
