Re: 10.1 Global Day of Action - HKDC - Hong Kong Democracy Council US
【October 1, 2020: National Day of Bloodshed】

Since the founding of the CCP, there has been continuous bloodshed and corruption. The CCP’s National Day is not worth celebrating. During the 2019 and 2020 Hong Kong Movement, Hong Kongers took to the streets to reprimand the CCP’s regime on National Day, but were brutally suppressed by the Hong Kong police force. 10.1 is not a cause for celebration. We must bear in mind the heinous crimes the CCP have committed.
Citing security concerns and an anti-coronavirus ban on public gathering, the police issued a notice of objection to the Civil Human Rights Front regarding a march on Hong Kong Island. They originally called for participants to wear black, a sign to show solidarity with the 12 Hong Kongers detained in China.
At least 86 people that day, including four District Council members, on suspicion of taking part in an unauthorized assembly. A few young online media reporters were also charged with violating the gathering restriction order.
On the same night, citizens hiked up the Lion Rock peak waving flashlights, laser pointers, and a flag that read “Liberate Hong Kong, the Revolution of Our Times”.
Entrances to Lion Rock Park were sealed off by the police on the basis of unlawful assembly. Anyone entering or exiting the hiking trail was made to register their names with the police and were told that legal actions may be pursued.
