英國政府更新移民條例擴大BNO簽證計劃 預料11月底開放申請
英國政府今天更新移民條例，將 BNO簽證計劃擴大到更多年輕港人身上。
1997年主權移交後出生、父母其中一人擁有 BNO 身份的年輕港人，將快能夠單獨申請BNO簽證。
是次移民條例修定為擴大 BNO 簽證計劃奠定基礎，計劃預計將於 11月底開始接受申請。
香港監察行政總監羅傑斯指：「我們樂見英國政府將 BNO 簽證計劃擴大至更多年輕港人身上，現在正成為現實。
「數以千計的香港年輕人確實面臨著被捕的風險。將 BNO 簽證計劃擴大到這些人身上，他們將能夠在英國這個自由和開放的國家開始重建他們的生活。
我們感謝英國政府擴大簽證計劃，以及所有努力爭取擴大簽證計劃的人。」
擴大 BNO 簽證計劃的動議由會議員 Damien Green MP 在下議院提出，然後由彭定康勳爵、奧爾頓勳爵、Lord Falconer 勳爵等人在上議院接手主導。
羅傑斯補充指：「我們將繼續與英國和自由世界中志同道合的政府合作，以確保每個香港人都有辦法擺脫暴政打壓。」
UK Immigration Rules change to open BNO visa to young people
Today, the UK government updated its Immigration Rules to expand the BNO visa to young people from Hong Kong.
Those born after the 1997 handover, with at least one BNO-status parent, will soon be able to apply for the BNO visa independently of their parents.
The rules lay the groundwork for the expansion of the scheme, which is expected to go live at the end of November.
Benedict Rogers, Chief Executive of Hong Kong Watch said: “We are delighted that the expansion of the BNO visa scheme to young people from Hong Kong is now becoming a reality.
“Thousands of young people from Hong Kong are at genuine risk of arrest. Expanding the visa to these people gives them a way out and will allow them to start rebuilding their lives in the UK, a free and open country.
“We commend the UK government for expanding this scheme, and all of those who have worked to make the BNO scheme such a success already.”
The campaign to expand the scheme to young people was led by Damian Green MP in the House of Commons, before being taken up by Lord Patten, Lord Alton, Lord Falconer, among others, in the House of Lords.
Mr Rogers added: “We will continue to work with the UK and like-minded governments across the free world to ensure that every Hong Konger has a way out of the tyranny being unleashed in the city”.
