The Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco is hosting an exhibition called "Present Tense 2023: Perilous Playground." It explores various artistic approaches that reflect on systemic power, exclusionary development, and people's interventions. The exhibition is a response to the upcoming reconstruction of Portsmouth Square, a public space in Chinatown, which will include removing a community bridge. C & G Artpartment, known for community and public art in Hong Kong, is curating the exhibition. Artists from different regions, including the West Coast, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore, are participating to promote dialogue and knowledge sharing on urban development and current issues. The exhibition is part of the Present Tense series, which focuses on these themes.
