Summarizing the Hong Kong Summit 2023 Washington, D.C. (Aug. 17, 2023) — Last month, from July 23 to 25, HKDC hosted the Hong Kong Summit 2023, gathering participants from seven countries and 25 cities to deliberate about matters of importance to the growing Hong Kong diaspora. More than 130 Hong Kongers in total attended the three-day event in Washington. They joined distinguished partners from the government, nonprofits, and other social movements. Special guests included Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Chairman Chris Smith (R-N.J.) of the Congressional-Executive Commission on China (CECC), Co-Chairman Jim McGovern (D-Mass.) of the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission, and Federal Bureau of Investigation agents.
