//President Biden convened world leaders in the first-ever Summit for Democracy in December 2021 to initiate concrete action toward global democratic renewal.

The Global Entrepreneurship Challenge is comprised of five Venture Day competitions across five continents: Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, North America, and South America which will feed into the program at the next Summit for Democracy in 2023. The venture day competitions will bring together researchers, innovators, investors, and entrepreneurs to identify and highlight key innovations as well as to give shape to the global effort to develop technology for democracy. The winner of the Silicon Valley competition will receive a $1,000 prize. Regional winners will then compete for a monetary prize in a final global competition in Washington, D.C. in 2023. The winning innovations also will be highlighted at the second U.S. Summit for Democracy in 2023.

Areas of innovation may include: data for policymaking, responsible AI and machine learning, fighting misinformation, and advancing government transparency and accessibility of government data and services. Regional winners will compete for a monetary prize in a final global competition in Washington, D.C.//
